The family of Geraldine Davis McDade, known by some as ‘Chusie’ of the Sipsey community in Jasper, Alabama is saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, February 20, 2025at the age of 95 years at Ridgeview Health Services.
Chusie was a lifelong homemaker taking care of her beloved husband Stanley McDade and her son Gregory Lynn McDade and helping the entire coal mining camp in Sipsey, Alabama where they lived. She cherished her time with Stanley and Greg camping and fishing at the Warrior and Tombigbee rivers.
In the early years she spent traveling to Carbon Hill visiting her only sister, Geneva ‘Lady’ McGough. This allowed Greg time to create life long bonds with his cousins. Geraldine was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church in Pineywoods, Alabama.
Geraldine was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
After Stanley passed in 2001, Geraldine resided at Sunrise Manor in Boldo, AL. In 2017 she transferred to Ridgeview Health Services in Jasper where she received excellent care until her passing.
Mrs. McDade is survived by her Son-Greg McDade (wife Kimberly McDade) of Guntersville, Alabama; Grandson-Shane McDade (wife Ashley) of Birmingham, AL; Great Grandson-Hudson McDade; Sister-Geneva ‘Lady’ McGough of Carbon Hill, AL; Nephews-Gerald ‘Dank’ McGough of Foley, AL, Rick McGough of Jasper and Phillip McGough of Birmingham.
She was preceded in death by her Husband-Stanley Joseph McDade; Mother-Ella Yates Davis; Father-Dewey Otis Davis; Nephew-Ronald ‘Mutt’ McGough.
Pallbearers will be Shane McDade, Hudson McDade and Nathan Pike.
The family invites friends to the memorial service scheduled for Monday, February 24, 2025 at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, 303 Oakhill Road, Jasper, Alabama. Family visitation is to be held at 12:30 and public visitation is 1:30 with the chapel service at 2:00. A brief graveside service will be held at Walker Memorial Gardens immediately following service. Greg Starnes will officiate.
