Gerald Leslie Pool passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Born July 8, 1949 in Charleston, SC, Gerald grew up in a navy family and lived in Newport, Rhode Island and Chattanooga, TN before moving to Muscle Shoals, AL during his late elementary school years. Gerald was a proud graduate of Muscle Shoals High School, Class of 1968, and later earned his degree from the University of North Alabama, Class of 1974.
Gerald was well known for his talent behind the camera and the relationships he built throughout the community and throughout the southeast over many decades. He was the owner of Pool Studios and National Band Portraits in Florence where he captured countless memories for families, students, schools, and organizations. His work and dedication left a lasting mark on generations.
Gerald served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Leslie Pool and Gurtha Olivia Pool.
He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Lauren Pool Williams and husband Kevin Williams; grandchildren, Lila Jane Williams and Harrison Williams; sister, Beverly Garver; brother, Mike Pool and wife Debbie Pool; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
Gerald will be remembered for his creativity, hardworking spirit, and the many lives he touched through both his profession and personal friendships.
Gerald enjoyed boating, a good cigar, music, art, photography and was an avid history buff who had a deep appreciation for local history in Florence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fisher House-Helping Military Families.
A private memorial service will be held for family members.
