Funeral service for Gerald Lamar Sparks, Sr., age 70, of Trinity, will be 11:00 a.m.. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Strain officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Sparks, who died Sunday, April 14, 2024, at his residence, was born July 23, 1953, in Alabama to Lonnie Sparks and Hazel Beavers Sparks. He was preceded in death by his father, and sister, Marilyn Joan Sparks. Mr. Sparks attended Bread of Life Church of Jesus. Following 36 years of service he retired from Goss Electric. He loved to play lead guitar and sing gospel music. Playing with the grandchildren and riding them on his tractor were his joy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Irene (Aday) Sparks; three sons, Gerald Lamar “Gary” Sparks, Jr. (Christie), Jeremy Edgar Sparks (Holly) and Joshua Nicholos Sparks (Chasity); his mother, Hazel L. Sparks; brother, Ronald Dwight Sparks; and three grandchildren, Bethany Kaylin Sparks Young (Micah), Nicholos Wade Sparks, and Justus Andrew Sparks.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Sparks, Darren Sparks, Jason Grissom, Evan Sparks, Ethan Sparks, and Jamison Sparks. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Nicholos and Justus Sparks.
