Dr. Gerald Knight, 57, of Killen, passed away on Dec. 10, 2012, after following a brief illness. Gerald was a graduate of Russellville High School and McWhorter School of Pharmacy at Samford University (Doctorate of Pharmacology). He was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 320. He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority and was pharmacist/owner of Shoals Pharmacy in Tuscumbia, Ala.
Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. and his funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel in Tuscumbia. Brother Jimmy King (cousin) is officiating. Burial will be immediately following the service at Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Gerald is survived by his daughter, Nicole Knight Stephens (Shane); granddaughter, Kinley Stephens; parents, Gerald V. Knight Sr. (Dot) and Betty H. Aycock; sisters, Cindy Latham, Debbie Kennedy, Greta Ayers (Charlie) and Karen Daniel (Rickey); nieces and nephews, Ashley Bynum (Joel), Jennifer Wood, Dr. Lee Kennedy (Brandi), Amanda Kennedy, Charles Henry Ayers, Laura Grace Ayers, Hannah Beth Ayers, Christopher Daniel, Clayton Daniel, Conner Daniel, and Candice Daniel; great nieces, Reese Wood, Vada Wood and Riley Kate Bynum; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gerald was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles Brack and Vannie Knight, Frue and Laura Mable Hartley, all of Bessemer; and stepfather, Gordon E. Aycock Jr.
Pallbearers will be Billy King, Dr. Lee Kennedy, Bob Daughtery, Jimmy O’Neal, Richard Johnson and Donnie Benefield.
