Gerald Duane Pritchard, 71, of Bolivar

Mr. Pritchard, the husband of Frances Chambers Pritchard, passed away Tuesday evening at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

He was born in Alabama, the son of the late Ernest and Annie Turner Pritchard and attended school there. Moving here in the mid-1980’s, he was an automobile salesman and on July 22, 1995 was married to Frances Chambers Pritchard. Family members that preceded him in death, in addition to his parents, were a sister, Betty Wallace and a brother, Harrell Pritchard.

Mr. Pritchard was an active member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Director, taught Bible classes, sang in the choir, worked with the youth and served as sound man. In his leisure time, Gerald enjoyed gardening, storytelling, his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, singing, church and witnessing of his faith to those around him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Gerald Pritchard, Jr. (Stephanie) of Nashville, GA and Shane Laney (Kim) of Pinson, TN; four grandsons, Corey, David, Blake and Cain; two great-grandchildren, Ben and Alice Rose; two sisters, Barbara Morrison of GA and Jewel Savage of Sewanee, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom he loved dearly.
