Gerald Clayton Stewart, age 90 of Decherd, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Franklin County on November 3, 1931, to the late Seldon Clayton and Frances Gertrude (Kennedy) Stewart. Gerald served his country in the United States Navy. Before his retirement, he had been employed as a machinist at Microcraft. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and spending time on the farm, taking care of his cattle. He was an avid University of Tennessee fan and enjoyed watching the Vols play. Gerald could work on anything that needed fixing and will be remembered for his humble and kind nature…he was always willing to help someone in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William “Billy” Stewart. Gerald is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Frances Stephens Stewart; children, Wendell Scott (Victoria) Stewart of Huntsville, and Garry Clayton Stewart of Decherd; grandchildren, Rachel Hargrove, Lora Segars, and Clayton “C.J.” Stewart; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 27, 2022, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.
