Georgia Sparks, age 85, of Tuscumbia, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 30, 2013, 1-3 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia with her funeral service following in the funeral home chapel. Brother Ted Vafeas will officiate and burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Georgia was a native of Jefferson County and a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, General Henry Sparks; her brother, Walker Green; her sisters, Joyce Bendall, Gloria Williams and Carol Graham; her grandchildren, Kali Dawn Sparks and John Adam Nichols.
She is survived by her son, Eddie Dwayne Sparks, of Lexington; daughters, Janet Sparks Koen, of Tuscumbia, Denette Sparks Nichols (Chris), of Russellville; brothers, O. J. Green, of Tuscumbia, Alvie Green, of Ill., Harold Green, of Russellville; grandchildren, Stephanie Blessing, Jennifer Poole, Mellissa Lane, Aaron Nichols and Garrett Sparks; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces; and nephews.
Pallbearers are Keith Blessing, Michael Lane, Steven Poole, Keith Green, Tommy Johnson and David Romans.
Memorials may be made to Huntsville Women’s and Children’s Hospital at 101 Sivley Road, Huntsville, AL 35801.
