Mrs. Georgia Mooney Tate  It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother at the age of 77. Georgia Mooney Tate was born on January 15, 1948, to the late Davie and Grapel Allen Mooney. She was the fifth of ten siblings. She lived on the Mooney Farm, located between Sardis and Scotts Hill, most of her life, until her passing. Mrs. Tate attended Sardis High School and married Louis Tate on March 4, 1964, who preceded her in in death, along with their son, Jerry Lynn Tate. She worked at H.I.S. in Saltillo and the Maytag Corporation in Jackson. She took great joy in the lives of a close-knit family, including her brothers and sisters, children, grands, and greats. She treasured her dog Bam and enjoyed working in her flowers.
Mrs. Tate leaves behind two children: Donna Rushing (Steve), and Sonya McLin (Brian); two grandchildren: Adam Rushing (Shelby), and Zachary McLin (Turner); and two great grandchildren: Zander and Renlee McLin.
Mrs. Tate was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Miller (Odell). She is survived by siblings: Lowell Mooney (Loretta), Marlene Brown (Ronnie), Carolyn Barker (Junior),Noel Mooney (Wanda), Sandra Mooney, Rebecca Mooney Howard, David Mooney (Brenda ), and Cheryl Moody (Dennis).
The family will receive friends at Pafford Funeral Home of Scotts Hill on Saturday, July 26, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM in the Chapel. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Baptist Cemetery, in Sardis, Tennessee, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and baby boy.
Those serving as pallbearers: Adam Rushing, Zach McLin, Steve Rushing, Brian McLin, Dennis Moody, and Jack Thompson. Honorary pallbearers: Lowell Mooney, Noel Mooney, and David Mooney.
