Georgia Catherine “Cathy” Mohundro, age 87, departed this earthly life on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi, with her loving family by her side.
Honoring her wishes, Cathy will be cremated, and no services are scheduled at this time.
Born on September 21, 1938, in Memphis, Tennessee, Cathy was the daughter of the late George and Elsie Cliff Roe. Following her education, she married the late Timothy Mohundro, and together they shared many years of marriage. Cathy dedicated much of her career to Howard Johnson Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, where she worked faithfully as an accountant until her retirement.
Cathy was a woman who appreciated life’s simple blessings. Strong-willed, determined, and resilient, she never backed away from life’s challenges. In one of her Facebook profile pictures, she chose the words, “I am a fighter. I’ve faced plenty of challenges, but nothing can bring me down.” Those words perfectly reflected the woman she was. Through every obstacle life placed before her, Cathy met it with courage, independence, and an unwavering determination to keep moving forward.
Although her physical presence will be deeply missed, the example she set through her strength, perseverance, and refusal to give up will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know and love her.
Cherishing her memory are her son, Chad Acuff (Tracy); her daughters, Terry Cruz, Cheryl Van Sutchtelen, and Tammy Sanchez; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Timothy Mohundro.
Ripley Funeral Home is honored to serve Cathy’s family.
