Georgia Anna McElroy age 95, of Arab, passed away Tues. November 3, 2020, at Diversicare of Arab. Mrs. McElroy was born in Henegar, AL the Daughter of John and Hannah Craig Whitmire. She was married to Quinton McElroy, who preceded her in death in 1992. She was a 2nd grade teacher at Arab Primary School and retired in 1984. She lived a full life of loving the Lord, her family and friends. She was a wonderful person of intelligence and humor and a joy to all who knew her. She enjoyed traveling with the Keenagers of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church and on many bus trips with her son, Carey. She stayed busy reading, completing crossword puzzles and taking care of her precious black cat. Survivors include her Son and Daughter in law: Bruce and Rhonda McElroy of Arab; Son: Carey McElroy of Huntsville; Daughter and Son in law: Angela and Donnie Branch of LaGrange, GA; Grandchildren: Dustin McElroy, Derek and Wife, Karissa Branch, Allison and Husband, Tyler Baker; Great Grandchildren: Riley McElroy and Lauren Branch. She was preceded in death by a Grandson: Brandon McElroy. A Graveside Service will be held on Thurs. Nov. 5, 2020, at 2:30 PM at New Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Jamey Pruett, officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM Thurs. at Gober Funeral Chapel.
