George William Lindsey of Huntsville passed away September 26, 2019, after a long illness. He was 84. Mr. Lindsey was a native of Florence, Alabama and relocated to Huntsville in 1969. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany working on the Nike missile program. Following his military service, Mr. Lindsey was a lifelong fixture as an electrical contractor in the construction industry in the Huntsville area. He performed work on numerous area landmarks such as, the Decatur Railroad Bridge, The U.S. Space and Rocket Center, and Madison Square Mall. In 1983, he founded his own electrical contracting business, Madison Electric, Inc. He served as a founding board member of the Associated Builders and Contractors North Alabama Chapter, and as Board Chairman in 1997. Mr. Lindsey also helped organize the North Alabama Craft Training Foundation, an organization dedicated to training future craftpersons with a skilled trade.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Brella Palmer Lindsey and Marvin Elmer Lindsey of Florence; sister, Mary Burton (Archie); niece, Kimberly Burton, all of Birmingham. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Craft Lindsey; son, Jason Lindsey (Margaret) of Harvest; two grandchildren, Grant and Reaghan; and sister, Robbie Lindsey of Decatur.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville on Monday, Sept. 30th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A private service and burial will be held at a later date at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Greater Huntsville Humane Society.
