George Wayne Williams, age 84 of Arley, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his residence.
George Wayne (Papa) Williams in our eyes was one in a million. He was a man who devoted many years of service to the Lord in nursing homes, pastoring churches, running revivals, visiting the sick in hospitals and shut-ins. This was a man who truly had a heart for people. A man who has led many to the Lord, who has baptized hundreds of people. A man who always had a kind, uplifting word of encouragement for people. A man who served his country during the Korean War with great honor and respect; he was a true patriot of our great country. He was a man who loved gardening more than we can put into words. His thumb was not just green, it was blessed by the hand of God. The world for us got a little darker but Heaven got a little brighter when Papa walked through the gates to see his savior face to face. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.“ Though we may not see him on this earth again, he will never be forgotten because of the many people whose lives were enriched by their encounter with Papa. There will always be a little part of him that lives on through us.
