A celebration of life was held Friday, August 21, at the Clarion Inn in Sheffield in honor and memory of George Sharp, 69, formerly of Tuscumbia, who passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, August 18, at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

George is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Justin Sharp and Sarah Sharp; grandchildren Lyndsee Sharp, Fuller Sharp (Kalysta), Kassidi Sharp (Joey Howe), and Riley Sharp; and a great-grandchild arriving in April 2027. He is also survived by Belinda Kilpatrick, the mother of his son; sisters Virginia, Jackie, Linda, and Ozelle; brothers Joe and Don (Linda); and Joey (Ashley).

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Jennie Sharp; two brothers; and one sister.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Naveen Lobo and his entire staff for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to George. They also thank Dr. Curtis Clark, his nurse, Terry, and the entire staff at Alliance for their care and support.

The family further expresses its sincere appreciation to Kirk Jones and the entire FOP Lodge #5, as well as Ron Leek, president of the State FOP, for their love and support of George and his family throughout his battle and especially during this difficult time. The family is deeply grateful for the wonderful celebration of life made possible by everyone’s support.

In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Russell Hill Foundation at Clearview Cancer Institute, the American Heart Association, or the Leukemia Society.

George will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
