George Samuel “Sam” Shannon, 75, of Ardmore, Alabama passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Athens, Alabama.
He was born on Tuesday, May 29, 1951, to the late George Ezard Shannon and the late Doris Ann Reyer Shannon.
Samuel lived in the Ardmore community for the majority of his life and was a member of Sweet Springs Baptist Church. In his free time, he liked playing golf and basketball as well as taking care of his property.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
Samuel is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna Shannon, two sons, Matthew (Taylor) Shannon and Jonathon Shannon, one sister, Vanese (Danny) Roberson, as well as five grandchildren.
There will be a visitation held for Mr. Shannon at Sweet Springs Baptist Church in Ardmore, Alabama, on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A chapel service is scheduled immediately after visitation with service time beginning at 3:00 PM. Pastor Brent Logan will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Gatlin Cemetery.
Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.
