George Randolph Schroeder, age 87, of Union Grove, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026. He was a proud Army veteran, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
George honorably served his country in the United States Army, reflecting a deep sense of duty, loyalty, and integrity that guided his life. After his military service, he built a long and dedicated career with Wallace & Tiernan in Belleville, NJ, where he was known for his reliability, skill, and commitment before retiring.
In his younger years, George worked as a roofer and sider and weekend mechanic on all our cars, never shying away from hard work. That same craftsmanship stayed with him throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was building children’s toys, which he lovingly donated year after year during the Christmas season to children in need. His generosity touched countless families, and his selfless giving was recognized in the local newspaper for providing gifts to needy children—though George never sought attention or praise.
Above all, George Randolph Schroeder is known for his kindness, humility, and unwavering desire to help others. He believed in doing good quietly, in showing love through action, and in giving without expectation. His legacy is one of service, generosity, and compassion—a life lived with purpose and heart.
George was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Ortiz.
George leaves behind his beloved wife, Martha; his daughters, Donna Androvett and her husband, Dan, Lynn Dailey and her husband, Dan, Karen Smith and her husband Ken, a stepson Jeff Thompson and his wife Laurie , and stepdaughter, Chris Geuder as well as many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy.
There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday before the service. Pastor Henry will officiate.
