George O’Neal “High Pockets” McCain – Obituary

George O’Neal “High Pockets” McCain departed this life on Monday, June 12, 2017, at the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 21 days. He was born in Mississippi on November 22, 1939, the son of the late Lennie Jorslin and George Wright McCain. On August 11, 1990, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Marlar, who survives.

George had worked offshore and at the Tom Bigbee Waterway. He then went to work in construction as a heavy equipment operator until he retired. He loved to deer hunt when he was younger, gardening, and helping people. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Lambert McCain of Michie, Tennessee; son, Daniel McCain of Shiloh, Tennessee; stepson, Brandon Scott Lambert of Burnsville, Mississippi; grandson, Nathan McCain; sister, Shelby Ann Cotner of Counce, Tennessee; and a nephew, Ricky Cotner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Minnie Ray Adams and Lellar May “Nitti” Dixon.

Sorry to hear this about O’Neal. I went to school with him at South Side High School where we graduated in May 1959. He was a friendly person who everyone liked. A Christian man. I believe he was baptized by Bro. Malcomb George, our eighth grade teacher.
