George Marion Mills III, 65, of Huntsville, Alabama succumbed to his battle with cancer peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on May 7, 2017.
George is survived by his wife Kathy of 45 years, daughter Samantha Coots (Jason), sons Steve (Rebecca) Mills and Michael (Tonya) Watson, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. George was a loving father, husband, grandfather, uncle and friend to all.
George loved fishing, golfing, BBQ, music, the outdoors and Alabama Football. A former U.S. Marine, he served his country and honored his family and those who knew him until his mother’s illness called him home to care for her. He cherished his life-long friends and the experiences they shared over the years and loved to laugh and reminisce about days past. While his family knows he’s now reuniting with other family members our Lord has called home, they suspect with certainty he’ll seek out the Bear up there to talk about his time at Bama and what he thinks about the new coach.
As a Territory Sales Manager for Maurice Sporting Goods and Store Manager for Walmart, George spent his career around the things he loved to do and cared greatly for those he worked with. George always put people and their needs first and would assist those in need with anything he could.
George’s smile, kind nature and “can do” attitude brought relief and inspiration to those who knew to him. He was always ready to assist and gave hope for others in their time of need. He positively touched many lives and his unyielding spirit to “achieve and overcome” lives on in the lives he touched.
Above all, he loved his dear friends and family. George relished time with his kids and his grandchildren and none a truer testament of the vows “until death we part”, was guided by his rock and her unconditional love for over 45 years, his wife Kathy.
The family sends a special thanks to Berryhill Funeral Home for their kindness and arrangements, Southern Home Health and especially our Kimberly Vann, who was with the family and provided a pillar of support and kindness at a most difficult time.
