George Lorton Berry was born October 13, 1923 in Wayne County, TN the son of the late George Washington and Grace Warrington Berry. In addition to his parents, Mr. Berry was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Berry; two brothers, Warrington Berry and Eugene Berry; two sisters, Audrey Sowden and Peggy Grandinetti. Mr. Berry died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Wayne County Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 89 Years, 3 Months, 30 Days. Mr. Berry, a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy, was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He was retired from General Motors as a die welder and a member of State Line Church.
He is survived by his wife Ida Pearl Montgomery Berry of Lutts, TN;
three sons, Stephen Berry and George Lee Berry both of Iron City, TN, John Thomas Berry of Swartz Creek, MI; two daughters, Debra Grabenhorst of Collinwood, TN and Brenda Boyd of Florence, AL; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Berry of Florence, AL; two sisters, Joyce MacQuarrie of Nashville, TN and Kate Hamilton of Waynesboro, TN;
several nieces and nephews.
