George Lewis Gregg – Obituary

The funeral service for George Lewis Gregg, age 76 of Millerville, will be held on Saturday March 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Rev. Zenus Windsor officiating.

 

A life well lived, Mr. Gregg passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2018 after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease. George traveled throughout the United States, but was happiest at home in Millerville, Alabama. He was a longtime member of Millerville Baptist Church, a veteran who served in the United States Navy, a retired millwright superintendent by trade, an avid Alabama football fan who enjoyed Nascar, gardening and raising cattle.

 

Mr. Gregg is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dianna Waters Gregg and son, Bryan Gregg of Millerville, Alabama; his nephew, Ronald Gregg (Judith) of Oxford, Alabama; his niece, Sharon Gregg Bailey of Daytona, Florida; his sisters-in-law: Nancy Waters of Alexander City, Alabama and Carolyn Conner (Bill) of Vincent, Alabama; his brothers-in-law: Jimmy Waters (Kay) of Palm Coast, Florida and Woody Waters (Elaine) of Millerville, Alabama and a host of other well-loved nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents: William Clarence (W.C.) Gregg and Venice Dorothy (Dot) Gregg; one brother, Willis “Doyle” Gregg and one nephew, Willis “Gerald” Gregg (Lenell).

 

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Chad Miller of Birmingham, Alabama and Alabama Hospice Care (Oxford) for the many acts of kindness shown during George’s illness.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
