George Franklin Taylor, age 80 of Winchester, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Bailey Manor in Manchester. He was born January 10, 1941 in Moore County to the late John Alton Taylor and Laura Mae Tipps Taylor. He was a graduate of Moore County High School and retired from TVA after more than 20 years of service. George was a member of Marble Plains Baptist Church, a hard worker, loyal to his family, and a devoted husband who cherished his wife. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming beef cattle, and leisurely riding motorcycles with his friends. In addition his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Taylor; sisters, Rebecca Price, Sarah Preston; brothers, Kenneth Taylor, and Howard Taylor. He is survived by his son, Frankie (Sydonna) Taylor of Winchester; grandchildren, Jon (Tiffany) Taylor of Winchester, Paige (Justin) Stubblefield of Decherd; great-grandson, Roczen Dai Taylor; sister, Elaine Trail of Manchester; brothers, John (Hazel) Taylor of Lynchburg and Randy (Tina) Taylor of Decherd; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 11 am-2 pm Tuesday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in Moore-Cortner Chapel. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Chris Davidson, Jerry Keller, Pat Martin, Tony Hasty, Steve Preston and Darrin Harrison will be serving as pallbearers.
