Mr. George Franklin Murrah A Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Friend, and Lover of Christ.

George F. Murrah, 79 of Elkmont, AL, died June 21, 2024.  He was born April 23, 1945 to the late Joe Martin Murrah and Cordie Lockhart Murrah in Athens, AL. On June 28, 1965, he married Dorothy Horton, and they were married for 59 years.

He attended Trinity High School and later began working at Thompson Tractor where he retired. He accepted Christ later in life and became a minister who served Christ. He was an avid reader of the Bible.

He is survived by his wife: Dorothy; sons: Gerald Murrah (Phaedra), and Corelli Murrah; daughter: Shundalia Meadows (Kerry); grandchildren: Savon Murrah, Christion Murrah, Telaya Murrah, Alyssa Murrah, and Ashton Murrah; great grandchildren: Mercy Murrah and Letty Murrah; three siblings: James  Murrah, Carl Murrah (Janet) all of Athens, AL and Lorenzo Murrah (Delores) of Louisville, KY; one sister: Elaine Noble of Athens, AL; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Lafayette McDonald, Henry Murrah, Willie Murrah, and Emanuel Murrah and one   sister: Annie Frances Horton.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the New Beria Missionary Baptist Church (21978 Highway 99, Elkmont, AL 35620) with Pastor Louis Horton officiating. Interment will be in the Persimmon Grove Cemetery in Elkmont, AL. Mr. Murrah will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Royal Funeral Home-Mason Chapel.
