George Donald (Don) Moore, Sr. was born June 18, 1931 in Finger, TN the son of the late Ebert Gladish and Hazel Oneida Cook Moore.
Don began his working career with Colonial Bread in Jackson, TN. He met the love of his life, Gertrude Binkley, while working as the manager of Capital Chevrolet in Nashville. The two were married on December 31, 1955. After returning to Selmer, Don was employed by Latta Motor Company before opening his own business, Don Moore Auto Sales. He later operated Moore Brothers Tractor and Parts Sales, and worked for Thomas Oil Company, a Shell distributor in Selmer. He also served on the Board of Directors for Selmer Bank & Trust for many years. Don enjoyed farming, riding horses, and spending time with his precious family. He was a faithful member of the Fourth Street church of Christ in Selmer, where he served as a Deacon and church Treasurer for more than 40 years.
Don departed this life on August 12, 2016 at his home in Selmer at the age of 85 Years, 1 Month, 25 Days. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gertrude (Binkley) Moore of Selmer, TN; a daughter, Pam (Moore) Killingsworth of Stantonville, TN; two sons, Donnie Moore, Jr. and Wayne Moore and wife Robin, all of Selmer, TN; seven grandchildren: Ben Killingsworth, Adam Killingsworth and wife Christie, Aaron Killingsworth and wife Heather, Trey Moore and wife Molly, Beth Fowler and husband Matt, Andrew Moore and fiancee Shelby Coleman, and Eric Moore; nine great-grandchildren: Kylee Killingsworth, Eben Killingsworth, Adalynne Killingsworth, Titus Killingsworth, Spencer Moore, Jack Moore, Lillybeth Fowler, Luke Fowler, and Levi Fowler; a nephew, Kenny Moore; a niece, Sherrie Lynn McKennon; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Moore.
