George David Christopher Thompson, also known as Voodoo, 68, of Lauderdale County, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Huntsville Hospital. He was a member of the Community Freewill Baptist Church. PawPaw had loved people all his life, through his ups and downs. He loved his family, music, and especially his grandkids. He could make you smile and laugh even when you didn’t want to.
Visitation will be today from 6 -8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Community Freewill Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Van Brown and the Rev. Malcolm Scott. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Louella Thompson, brother, Tim, and sisters, Margie, Angela, and Mattie Faye.
He is survived by his fiancée, Arlene Peden; mother of his children, Dorothy Thompson; son, Chris Thompson (Christy); daughter, Michele Beasley (Larry); brothers, Cliff, Jimmy, and Anthony Thompson; sister, Shelly Hubbard; and grandchildren, Trevor Beasley and Lily Thompson.
Active pallbearers will be Trevor Beasley, Larry Beasley, Micheal Reathford, Lee Thompson, Jason Thompson, and Matthew Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cliff and Jimmy Thompson, Donnie Reathford, and Terry Thompson.
Special thanks to Arlene, his love that has been with him and has helped take care of him for the past several years, and to Patricia, Liz, and staff at Keller Landing.
