Geneva Duberry Stimson – Obituary

Geneva Duberry Stimson, 85, resident of Clarksville, died Monday, August 27, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Troy Williams and Jim Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born January 4, 1933 in McNairy County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late William Carter Duberry, I and the late Amy Smith Duberry Allen. On December 24, 1953, she married Harlan Thomas Stimson who preceded her in death February 11, 1987. Mrs. Stimson had a strong and fierce love for her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her children, Cindy (Barry) Boothe of Iuka, Mississippi, Denise (Troy) Williams of Nashville, John (Nancy) Stimson and Bert (Georgie) Stimson, both of Clarksville; grandchildren, Lily Boothe of Iuka, MS, Thomas Williams of Nashville, Audrey Stimson, Norah Stimson, and Grayson Stimson, all of Clarksville; siblings, Jonnie Webb and Mary Sue Byrd, both of Columbia; beloved nieces and nephews, Carrollyn (Jerrell) Hann of Columbia, Jim (Harriet) Webb of Pulaski, Joe Webb of Columbia, Ricky Duberry of Columbia, Carter Duberry of Columbia, Todd Duberry of Mt. Pleasant, Janice Drew of Columbia, Judy Duberry of Columbia, Susan Rector of Columbia, Karen (Ricky) Thompson of Columbia; and many beloved great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, William Carter Duberry, II, and Jerry Duberry; and niece, Vivian Duberry Adcock.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas Williams, Ricky Thompson, Austin Simmons, Jerrell Hann, Taylor Duberry, and Jason Lindsey. Honorary pallbearers will include Ricky Duberry, Carter Duberry, Todd Duberry, Alex Rector, Evan Rector, Mark Hann, and Barry Boothe.
