Geneter Mae Shields Colwell was born February 23, 1940 in Limestone County, AL, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.
Geneter was a very loving, caring, giving wife, mother and friend to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Shields, and her father, Otis Shields; 5 brothers, Richard Wayne Shields, J.C. Shields, Vann Shields, L.B. Shields, and Wilburn (Duck) Shields; 3 sisters, Florine Whitt, Paulette Laipply, and Mary Pullam.
Geneter is survived by her husband of 63 years, Randall Colwell; her 3 sons, Dewayne Colwell (Robin), Ricky Colwell (Patty), and Earl Colwell (Kay); daughter, Donna Colwell Smith (Kerry); sister, Dorothy Naves; 8 grandchildren, Jesse Colwell, Laura Christ (Alex), Randy Colwell (Tiffany), Rachel Colwell Chapman (Elbert), Tamara Colwell, Keith Colwell, Damon Smith, and Dylan Smith; 6 great grandchildren, Aaden Colwell, Grayson Colwell, Calvin Colwell, Kelsie Chapman, Ellie Chapman, and Maddie Chapman; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 3 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. Her funeral service will follow directly after at 2 p.m. with Pastor Doug Colwell and Elder Fae Harwell officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
