Genero Inez Horton, 95, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. Born and raised in Pontotoc County, Inez found joy in baking, sewing, and tending to her flowerbeds. Her career included time at the North Pontotoc school cafeteria, Ecru Medical Clinic, and Miss Eaton Furniture.
Survivors include her son, Joey Horton (Rene), her daughter, Nancy Kidd, and her grandsons, Casey Kidd (Ashlyn), Seth Kidd (Clara Beth), Ryan Horton, and Conor Horton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leighton Horton, her parents, George Lewis and Mary Myrtle Hellums, and her siblings, Laver Hellums, Walter Hellums, Q.T. Hellums, Marie McGregor, Nona Davis, and Zelma Buser.
Funeral services will be held at 3PM Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Horton Memorial Baptist Church with Bro. Don Shaffer officiating. Visitation will begin at 2PM and continue to service time. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Casey and Seth Kidd, Randy Horton, and Tony Browning.
