Gene Mayo, 90 of Blountsville passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at UAB Hospital. He was born March 23, 1935 in Marshall County the son of Alton Clifton Mayo and Ona Jewel McCollum Mayo.
He is survived by his wife: Rethel Ann Woods Mayo; son: Phillip Mayo (Johnnie); daughter: Teresa Herzog (Howard); eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Gober Funeral Chapel. The family has chosen to honor his wishes with cremation following the visitation.
