With deepest sorrow, we announce that Gavin Andrew Rains, age 43, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2023, due to complications from liver and kidney failure. He was born in Stanford, California, to Darrel and Sheila Rains on February 25, 1979.
Those who knew Gavin, even just remotely, lost a glowing light in their lives. He is survived by his daughters, Tallulah and Ayla, his mother, Sheila Rains Linsday, his stepfather, Gordan Linsday, his brother, Derrick (Tina), and nephews, Darrel and Deacon, and his brother, Brian (Amy), and niece, Audrey, and many other family members.
Gavin was predeceased by his father, Darrel Estle Rains.
Gavin’s early years were spent in Hopkinsville, KY, where he learned many of life’s lessons and made life-long friendships forged in trust and love which have remained up to his recent passing.
After graduating from Hopkinsville High School, he attended Young Harris University and the University of Kentucky where he studied business. That fueled his passion for entrepreneurship. Afterwards, in his early professional career, he moved around some, but eventually planted roots in Guntersville, Alabama.
He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a resolute understanding of what was important. The way he died was just as he lived: Gavin wrote his own rules and paved his own way.
