Gary William Lane Gary William Lane, age 68, of Shelbyville, Tenneessee, formerly of the Hayleyville and Gadsden area, passed away on February 7, 2024. He was born on January 6, 1956, to the late Erby and Emma Spence. Gary was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
Gary found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in his pastime of fishing. Whether casting a line from the shore or enjoying a day on the water, the tranquility of fishing brought him a sense of peace and fulfillment.
Professionally, Gary dedicated himself to his work, having been employed at both Cotton Postal Roofing and Hillis Roofing. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on those he worked with.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Lane, and children: Tabitha Norton (AD), Serena Lane, John Uptagrafft, Connor Shelton, Amber Harbin (Dekota), and Justin Shelton. He is also survived by his sisters Joanne Underwood, Doris Bryant, and Glenda Leamaster. Gary leaves behind a legacy through his 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruby Lee Lane, who was like a mother to him most of his life; brothers, Jimmy Ray Spence, Frankie William Spence, and David William Spence; granddaughter, Katlin Brooke Culli. The loss of Gary is deeply felt by his family and friends, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
The family will be receiving visitors to celebrate Gary’s life on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. During this time, friends and loved ones can come together to share memories, offer condolences, and find solace in each other’s company as they remember the remarkable life of Gary William Lane.
