Mr. Gary Wayne McKinney, age 69 of Lineville, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at his home.

Mr. McKinney was born in Clay County and a 1973 graduate of Clay County High School. Out of High School, he started working at Southland Manufacturing for several years. He primarily worked for the Ashland Housing Authority, and in Florida, Eastaboga, and Alexander City as a property manager for apartment buildings. In his spare time, Mr. McKinney enjoyed cleaning and detailing cars, fishing, and just being outside in the sun or on the lake. He enjoyed going to Flat Rock listening to his classic rock cassette tapes, and enjoying the little things in life. He also enjoyed watching YouTube TV, and other streaming sites, with is favorite videos being anything from car restoration to funny animal videos. Mr. McKinney was very detail oriented, made sure everything he was involved with was clean and tidy, and believed his way was the right way. Mr. McKinney adored his family, and spending time with his brother, nieces and nephews. He was a member of Lystra Baptist Church.

Mr. McKinney is survived by his brother, Timmy McKinney (Debbie L.); his nieces and nephews: Brandon Tucker McKinney, Justin Neal McKinney (Jodie K.), and Brian Charles Nelson (Katie), all of Clay County; his grand-nieces and grand-nephews: Timothy Joseph “T.J.” McKinney, Charlee Ann McKinney, Kaycee Nelson, and Amelia Grace McKinney.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles Edsel and Edna Earl Cheatwood McKinney; and one sister, Rhonda Kaye McKinney Nelson.
