Gary Wayne Mays, Sr., age 34, passed away, Thursday, February 28, 1980, at his residence in Hamilton, Alabama.
Visitation, Friday evening, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., February 29, 1980, at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 1980, at Webb Baptist Church. Bro. James P. White, Bro. J C Rushing and Bud Pugh spoke. Burial in Webb Baptist Church Cemetery in Lamar County, Alabama.
Gary was born August 9, 1945, at Emma L. Bixby Hospital in Adrian, Lenawee County, Michigan to John O. and Mary Nell Pope Mays. Gary married “Judy”, Judith Faye Webb Mays, May 31, 1968, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Hamilton, Alabama. The ceremony was performed by Bro. James P. White.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, 8 months, and 29 days, Judith Faye “Judy” Webb Mays; 1 son, Gary Wayne Mays, Jr.; his parents, John O. and Mary Nell Pope Mays; 3 brothers, John W. Mays, Kenneth M. Mays, and Joe Mays; 1 sister, Peggy Ann Mays; several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and relatives. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law and father-in-law Grady L. and Eather Rye Webb and family who loved Gary as if he was one of their own children.
