Gary Tiley, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on April 5th, 2023, at the age of 81. Born on August 31st, 1941, Gary was the son of Ralph and Lavon Tiley.
Gary lived a life of hard work and dedication. He worked as a union contractor and carpenter, spending most of his life in Alaska before returning home to Alabama to take care of his parents until they passed away. He loved working with wood and enjoyed solving puzzles in his spare time. A quiet and reserved man, Gary was known for his thoughtful and kind nature.
In his later years, Gary became very passionate about his health and fitness, frequently visiting the gym and going for daily walks. He had proudly served two years in the Navy.
Gary will be deeply missed by his surviving family, including his sister Gail Gahring, his nephew, John (Rebecca) Gahring, his niece, Vicki Gahring, and her partner, Leslie Lorance, nephew-in-law, Greg Baxter, grand-niece, Tiley Gahring, and grand-nephew, Cooper Baxter. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Kay Baxter.
Gary’s memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and the many hearts he warmed. He will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and gentle spirit.’
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Blevins Hall at Williams Funeral Home.
