Gary M. Conkey, 71 of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, October 19th, 2022, at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville, Alabama. Mr. Conkey was born on October 11th, 1951, in New Berlin, New York, to Stuart A. Conkey Sr. and Dorothy Young Conkey.
Mr. Conkey is survived by his son Andrew Conkey of Norwich, New York; step-daughter Teri Wright (Don) of Athens, Alabama; step-son Zeland Boice of Sherburne, New York; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and brother Stuart A. Conkey Jr. of Ohio.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife Arlene L. Conkey; and children Gary M. Conkey, Jr. and Wendy Conkey Benedict.
A graveside service for Mr. Conkey will be on Friday, October 21st, 2022, at 1:00pm at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, with Juaken Dumas officiating.
Mr. Conkey was an aircraft assembler for over 40 years. He was very proud of his large patriotic eagle collection. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and coin collecting.
