Gary Lynn Turner, age 70, passed away February 15, 2023, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southhaven, MS.
He was born January 5, 1953, in Blytheville, AR the son of the late Edna Mae Turner. He grew up in Blytheville and Memphis. He entered the U.S. Army in July 1972. He served in Germany until July 1973. He returned to Memphis and worked at the Army Defense Depot for ten years. He later did security work for a few years. He loved his family and his grandchildren. He enjoyed talking on the phone with family. He loved strawberry milk shakes with extra cherries. He loved his two dogs, Free Way and Ranger.
He was a member of the, New prospect Baptist Church in Lewisburg, MS.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Sara Diane Hooker Turner and the mother of his children, Cindy Starnes; four daughters, Jina Farjallah (Hamed) of Memphis, Tina Gansman (Dale)of Byhalia, Teresa Denman of Somerville and Patty Barnette of Bartlett, TN; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; a brother, James Edward Turner of Tuttle, OK and two sisters, Mary Patterson of Finger and Donna Mozer of Walnut, MS.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and two brothers, Charles Turner and L.C. Turner.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 23rd at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Dale Gansman officiating. Burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time on Thursday.
