Gary Salter Gary Lee Salter, age 48, of Jasper, Alabama, passed away on April 14, 2026. Born on August 30, 1977, in Jasper, Alabama, Gary was a lifelong resident of Walker County who touched the lives of many with his kind heart, fun-loving spirit, and unwavering willingness to help others.

A proud graduate of Sumiton Christian High School, Gary carried the values instilled in him throughout his life. He was a man who appreciated life’s simple pleasures and lived with genuine character. Gary had a deep love for fishing—whether casting a line on a quiet morning or sharing laughs and stories with friends and family. He was also passionate about antique cars and could often be found admiring or working on classic vehicles. Watching sports was another joy in his life, bringing him closer to those he loved.

Gary is survived by his loving parents, Gary Salter and Patsy Salter, his sister, Leslie (Brian) Earnest, and niece Sadie Earnest.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, RC and Shirley Alexander, and George and Bessie Salter.

Gary’s family finds comfort in the words of Joshua 1:9:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” May his soul rest peacefully in the Lord’s eternal care.

A public visitation will be held on April 17, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at New Horizon Funeral Home, 5203 Hollis Goodwin Rd, Dora, AL 35062, followed by a graveside funeral service at 1:00 PM, officiated by Brandon Blair. Pallbearers will be Danny Bullard, Jr., Foster Earnest, Brian Earnest, and Roger Cordell.

A reception will follow at First Assembly of God, Sumiton. 85 Yates Road Sumiton, Alabama 35148.
