Gary Lee Russell, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the age of 65. Visitation will be Friday, November 23, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Larry Smart officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Gary was a native of Colbert County and was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the National Guard. He retired from NAFCO as an operator. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Leroy and Mary Kathryn Holt Russell; brother, Tommy L. Russell; and sister, Diana K. Russell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Teresa Russell; daughter, Ryann (Chris) Murphy; son, Daniel (Lizzie) Russell; sisters, Peggy (Chester) Borden, Judy Watkins and Sue (Eddie) Hicks; grandchildren, Ally and Riley Murphy; mother-in-law, Barbara Weeks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chris Murphy, Billy Ray McBrayer, Shawn Hicks, Anthony Smith, Ronnie Borden and Roy McDougal. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Roberts and Marc Ware.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Northwest Alabama Cancer Center, the doctors and staff of Hospice of the Shoals and the doctors and staff of ECM.
