Funeral services for Gary Don Garmany, age 69, will be today, 2 p.m., at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Scotty Hogan officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Garmany, who died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born Aug. 16, 1946, in Georgia to Wesley W. Garmany and Cora Bradley Garmany.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Garmany retired from Solutia following 37 years of service. Following retirement he worked at Shelton Funeral Home. He also worked with youth in the Decatur area coaching sports and was a basketball referee for 13 years. Mr. Garmany was an avid sportsman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carolene Hughes Garmany, of Decatur; two sons, Tony Garmany (Kathleen), of Holly Ridge, North Carolina, and Greg Garmany (Tonya), of Hartselle; one brother, W.O. Garmany, of Danville; one sister, Gloria Jean Craig, of Marietta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Zachary Garmany (Stephanie), Stephanie Hess (Derek), Conner Garmany, and Kennadi Hogan; one great-grandson, Hayden Hess; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Garmany, Brandon Garmany, Jason Craig, Mark Craig, David Hughes and Ray Hughes.
