Funeral for Gary Dewayne Cheatham, 61, of Decatur will be Thursday, October 10, 2013, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Austinville with Brother Randy Berry officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home and Thursday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Cheatham, who died Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born October 26, 1951, in Morgan County to Herbert and Elizabeth Cheatham. Gary was owner of Gary Cheatham Auction and Realty and was employed by Byco of Decatur. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. His father preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Debbie Mitchell Cheatham; two godsons, Michael Mitchell of Decatur and Johnny Mark Cheatham of Hartselle; his mother, Elizabeth Cheatham of Decatur; five brothers, Wayman Cheatham (Jean) of Decatur, Michael Cheatham (Betty) of Hartselle, Wendell Cheatham (Patsy) of Elkmont, Johnny Cheatham (Sara) of Decatur and Randy Cheatham of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Melinda Marmann of Decatur; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Steve Pope (Susan) of Raleigh, N.C., Wayne Mitchell, Dean Mitchell (Pam) and Bobby Mitchell, all of Decatur; and sister-in-law, Ann Milligan (Dale) of Lawrence County.
Pallbearers will be Corey Cheatham, Johnny Mark Cheatham, Eddie Cheatham, Keith Moore, Raven Mayhall, Steve Pope and Bobby Mitchell.
