Gary DeLanie Scales, 76, of Sheffield, passed away March 11, 2018, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sheffield First Church of the Nazarene. Funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor Howard Wilson, Rev. Bobby Scales and Mayor Ian Sanford will officiate.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Lindon L. and Annie Mae Scales; and nephew, Robert Carrol Scales.
He is survived by his wife, MaLea Scales; son, Rusty Scales and Jody Scales and wife Titian; stepsons, Braxton Wade and wife Cortney and Nicholas Wade and wife Carolyn; grandson, Lindon Eli Scales; granddaughter, Sally Briar Scales; step- grandsons, Ethan Wade and Austin Wade; brothers, Bobby Scales and wife Twink and Harvel Scales and wife Derenda; mother-in-law, Etta Stephenson, brother-in-law, Dr. Devin Stephenson and wife Judy; aunt, Blanche Frazier; aunt and uncle, Faye and Starley Hand; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lester Cunningham, Charlie Grimmett, Sr., Charlie Grimmett, Jr., Amos Moore, Bill Moore, Presley Williams and Gloria Wooten. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Baker, Jeff Brewster, Roy Kelley, Steve Nix, Bob Reynolds and Ronnie Wicks.
