Gary Dale Gilliland Jr., 42, of Oneonta, AL, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020 at home. Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 25, 2020, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 26, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Burial will be at Gaddy Cemetery. Chaplain David Lawrence will officiate. Dale graduated from Locust Fork High School, got his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice at Jeff State. He was also a master marksman and served as a Swat team sniper at Jefferson County Sheriff Department. He was a member of the Gunfighters of Alabama Biker Club affiliated with the FTO, and a Mason. He had been honored and awarded for service in the field with two commendations. He was awarded a Sherriff’s Medal of Valor and a letter of commendation from Center Point Fire District for saving two children from a house fire. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Dale Gilliland Sr.; grandparents, Lilly Pearl and John Gaddy, Janet Shubert, Junior Gilliland, Charles Gilliland, Imogene Gilliland, and Faye Gilliland; great grandmother, Sarah Uptain. He is survived by his wife, Kelsey Gilliland; children, Gary Darrell Gilliland, Sarah Kate Gilliland, and Madison Lea Gilliland; mother, Donna Marie Gilliland(Chuck “Pop” Gilliland); sibling, Krista Denice Williams; nephews, Tyler Heath Gilliland, Tracy Leon Owens, Hunter Dale Gilliland, and Brantley Dave Gilliland; niece, Shelby Nicole Owens. Pallbearers will be Tracy Owens, Tyler Gilliland, Ashanti McKinney, Doug Goodwin, Kevin Higgins, and Josh Gaddy.
