Gary WarrenZ•RÞ	qÂÆÅxGary Benford Warren, 64, of Haleyville was called home to Heaven on Thursday, April 10, 2014. Visitation will be Saturday, April 12, from 6-9 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 13, at First Baptist Church of Haleyville with John McCullar, Jerry Boyles, and Dr. Jim Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.

Gary dedicated his life to the education and advancement of students in the state of Alabama. His service included 22 years as an Agriscience teacher, 14 ½ years as Director of the Haleyville Center of Technology, 20 years as a bus driver, and 4 years as District 7 representative on the Alabama State Board of Education. Over the years he received many accolades and awards, but his first and foremost priority was providing opportunities for students.

He received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University, his Master’s degree from Mississippi State University, and his A.A. and certification in Administration from Alabama A&M University.

Always a servant at heart, Gary has remained active in his community, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce. His favorite activities included spending time with his family and working on his farm, complete with Belgian horses and mules.

Gary was proceeded in death by his parents, Benford and Ruby Warren. He is survived by his wife, Linda League Warren, daughters Candace Warren Williams (Judd) and Amy Warren and many other loving family members.
