Funeral services for Garry C. Landers, 68, will be Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. James Wray officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Poplar Creek Cemetery .
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Landers died Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at his residence. He was born Oct. 31, 1946, in Colbert County to Alfred Comer Landers and Lassie Mae Prince Landers. He was a tool and die machinist for Saginaw-Delphi, where he retired after 28 years of service, then worked for four years for Morin. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 721 and was a Master Mason. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 and served until 1968 with the Armory Division A Troop, 3D Squadron 7th Calvary in Schweinfurt, Germany. He loved his wife, his children and grandchildren.
He loved working and sunny days where he could be on his tractor. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Lindsey Landers, Somerville, Alabama; two sons, Garry Wallace “Wally” Landers (Jennifer Stringer), Somerville, Alabama, and Michael Lee Landers (Kristi Holmes), Eva, Alabama; three daughters, Carol Ann Landers Lacks (Jason), Somerville, Alabama, Rebecca Dianne Landers Dillard (Chris), Somerville, Alabama, and LeeAnn Marie Johnen Duncan (Steve), Somerville, Alabama; three brothers, Lowell Welton Landers, Leighton, Alabama, Jimmy Eric Landers, Leighton, Alabama, and twin brother, Jerry Homer Landers, Florence, Alabama; three sisters, Jean Elanor Schwartz, Leighton, Alabama, Edwina Murray, Ana, llinois, and Peggy Jewell Simpson, Leighton, Alabama; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Kevin Brian Simpson and Jerry Wayne Landers, and grandsons, Dalton Vince Scott, Aaron Hunter Scott, Gavin Wyatt Landers and Austin Heath Dillard.
Honorary pallbearer will be John Michael Landers.
