Garland “Sonny” Powell, 75 of Arab passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Marshall Medical Center North. Sonny was born May 20, 1945 in Cullman County the son of Roy Olen Powell and Lydia Cornelius Powell.
He is survived by Daughter: Kathi McElroy; Grandchildren: Dalton McElroy, Jennifer Armstrong (Jonathan) and Clint Morgan; Great Grandchild: Eli Armstrong; Brother: Ronald Powell (Linda); Host of Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by Wife: Margaret Powell; Daughter: Lisa Ann Morgan; Son: Michael O’neal Powell; Grandson: Matthew Morgan.
The family chose to honor his wishes by cremation with no formal memorial service at the present time. Gober Funeral Chapel assisted the Powell family with cremation arrangements.
