Garland H. Privett – Obituary

Mr. Garland H. Privett, age 87, of Williamson, Georgia, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Privett was born in Decatur, Alabama on Feb. 05, 1929. He is preceded in death by his wife, Phillipa M. Privett; daughters, Kathryn Privett and Karen Privett; parents, William D. Privett and Ora C. Cathcart; brothers, James Carlton Cathcart, Donnie Cathcart and L.D. Cathcart.

Mr. Privett retired after serving over 20 years in the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. During his military service, he was involved in conflicts in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Later, Mr. Garland Privett spent 20 years in civil service working for the United States Army as a Supply Systems analyst. He loved golf, college football and the Atlanta Falcons. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include son, Richard Privett and wife, Elissa Stern of Washington; brothers, Calvin Cathcart and wife, Laverne of Decatur; Ricky Cathcart and wife, Judy of Decatur.

A graveside service will be Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia with Military Honors.
