Funeral service for Garland Bailey Carpenter, age 75, of Decatur, will be Saturday, December 29, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hugh Bohlin officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 28, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Carpenter, who died Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at his residence, was born July 25, 1937, in Decatur, to Walter Carpenter and Dora Drake Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Douglas Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter was retired after 29 years from Monsanto and from Pill Box Pharmacy. He was a member of Cedar Ridge Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Davis Carpenter of Decatur; one son, Steven Carpenter (Teresa) of Falkville; one daughter, Lisa Alexander of Decatur; one brother, James Robert Carpenter of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Myrtice Juanita Landolfi of Ashville, NC; one son-in-law, Ray Bard of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
