ail Tingle Johansen,88, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026. Her visitation will be on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home with Jeff May and Jeff Scott officiating. She will be laid to rest at Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Gail is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, George Johansen; two daughters, Charlotte Leach and Lynne Pearson (Tony); son, Chuck Fuller (Aldi); step-daughter, Kathy Jo Fielder (Gary); grandchildren, Stacy Hrasna (Joey), Sarah Welborn (Casey), Ashley May (Scott), and Lauren Green (Jonathan); step grandchildren, Megan Maxwell (CJ), Zachary Atchison (Kimberly), Hannah Atchison, Kayla Phelps (Trevor) Brantley Johansen (Kimry) Julia Rhine (Vince) Alissa Nicholas (Ben) and Vanessa Johansen, 8 great grandchildren and 17 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, two stepson, Doug and Robert Johansen and son in law, Phil Leach.
Gail had a beautiful love for Jesus, life, and the people around her. She treasured her family, her church, babies, flowers, birds, music, nature, shopping, and any opportunity to bring people together. She especially loved hosting gatherings in her home, where a great party and time spent socializing with family and friends brought her so much joy.
A devoted Christian, Gail was a faithful member of Danville Road Church of Christ and deeply loved her church family. She had a special way of making people feel loved and welcomed, and that love was returned by everyone who knew her, including the many generations of nieces and nephews who adored her.
Gail’s home was a reflection of the things she cherished most, beautiful plants and flowers, the sight of birds, and countless photographs of family and friends. She believed there could never be too many pictures and enjoyed creating photo albums filled with treasured memories.
Of all the roles Gail held throughout her life, her favorite was being a Nanny. Nothing brought her greater joy than loving and caring for her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished Nanny, beloved sister and aunt, and a woman whose faith, warmth, and love for others touched generations.
Pallbearers will be CJ Maxwell, Zachary Atchison, Jackson Nichols, Ethan Norwood, Casey Welborn and Scott May.
