Gai Thi Hawkins age 74, of Lynchburg, Tennessee, loving wife of Wayne Hawkins and mother of two children passed from this life on November 1, 2021. Gai was born in Binh Tran, Vietnam to Van Dong Nguyen and Thi Thi Nguyen on January 2, 1947. In 1972, she married Robert Hensley and immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen in 1975. Gai and Wayne were married in June 1992 and resided in Moore County. Gai was renowned for her exceptional work ethic and caring and compassioned assistance to others. She loved gardening and was the proverbial “green thumb” gardener. Gai is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughter, Kim Carmen; son, Robert Hensley Jr.; grandchildren, Stephanie and Kevin Carmen and Jacob and Allyssa Hensley. Visitation for Gai will be Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 3:00pm – 6:00pm at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Visitation will also be held from 1:00pm – 1:50pm on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Ivie Funeral Home with funeral services following at 2:00pm from the chapel with Rev. Gerald McGaha officiating.
