G. W. (Billy) Seaton was born July 18, 1926 in Adamsville, TN the son of the late Elmer and Georgia Donaldson Seaton.
He was united in marriage to Gerri Pitts on April 4, 1947. Mrs. Seaton preceded him in death on October 6, 2011.
Mr. Seaton was a member of Adamsville First Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason at the Adamsville Lodge and a member of the Scottish Rite. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Billy owned and operated Seaton’s Grocery from 1952 until 1983. The store was started by his father in 1935. He worked with his father in the store for several years before assuming ownership in 1952. He was also a farmer and cattleman. Before retiring, he worked for Aqua Glass Corporation for 9 years.
He enjoyed spending time on the farm with his grandkids whom he loved very much, and was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and fishing. A favorite passtime was watching the History channel and old westerns on the Western channel.
Mr. Seaton departed this life on September 20, 2012 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 2 Months, 2 Days.
He is survived by two sons, Don Seaton and wife Karen and Timothy E. Seaton and wife Melissa, both of Adamsville, TN; two daughters, Georgana Tidwell and husband Markus and Sybil Gibbs and husband Jerry, also of Adamsville; nine grandchildren, Kristi Turnbow, Eric Seaton, Aimee Redmon, Deana Milford, Will Tidwell, Josh Gibbs, Jordan Gibbs, Jill Coln, Timothy Seaton; 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Elmer D. Seaton of Adamsville. A host of extended family and friends.
Services will be conducted by Bro. Phil Mitchell and Elmer D. Seaton. Music will be by Richard Seaton and Jerry Whitten and the Tennessee River Boys.
