Funeral Services for Mrs.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Betty Jean Marler, age 83 of Ashland, will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Bro. Warren Wilson and Bro. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashland City Cemetery.

Ms. Marler was a lifelong resident of Clay County. She was a homemaker who loved her family, her animals, and growing flowers. She was a faithful longtime member of Fairview Christian Church, where she loved the play the piano for her church family, starting at the age of 12 years of age.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Cotney (Jerry) of Ashland; 4 sons: Benny Davis (Kristin) of Ashland, James Davis (Rebecca) of Columbia, David Davis (Gloria) of Columbia, and Tony Marler (Nicole) of Redbay; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, James Gill of Alexander City, Darrell Gill of Millerville, and Gerald Gill of Denham Springs, LA.

Mrs. Marler was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman Gill and Sadie Williams Gill; her husband, Woody Marler, step father, Willie Jim Gill’ one sister, Peggy Watts; and 2 brothers, Harold Gill and Grady Gill.

The visitation for Mrs. Marler will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 5:30-8:00 P.M.
