Freddie Dennis Goodman Freddie Dennis Goodman, 72 long-time resident of Turkey Creek Road in Santa Fe, died Friday, September 6, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Elsey officiating. Burial will follow in Adkison Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Born March 14, 1947 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Cecil Fred Goodman and the late Louvina Phillips Goodman Harwell. He was a 1967 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned his Associate’s degree from Columbia State Community College. Earlier in life, alongside his father he was a barber. After college he started working for the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation in the computer room and worked his way up and retired as a Computer Programmer/Analyst for CGS in Nashville. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, his greatest joy was attending his grandsons sporting activities. For many years, he coached softball and t-ball at Santa Fe Recreation League.

Mr. Goodman was a very active member of West End Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School Classes. He was a former member of Northside Baptist Church, where he was a youth group leader and Deacon.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, whom he married October 26, 1973, Willie Mae Beard Goodman of Santa Fe; daughter, Amber Goodman (James) Myers of Santa Fe; son, Cody (Lauren) Goodman of Columbia; grandsons, Nathaniel Myers of Santa Fe; Blake Goodman of Columbia; half-brother, Geoff Goodman of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Audrey Hood; Edith (L.G.) White; and brothers-in-law, Michael (Pat) Beard; and Billy Beard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, William J. “Bill” Harwell; father and mother-in-law, Edgar and Adell Beard; and his puppy dog, Webster.

Active pallbearers will be James Myers, Nathaniel Myers, Charles Hood, Steven Hood, Landon White, Kevin Beard, L. G. White, and Richard Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers include Susie and Tony Sowell, Juane and David Horton, Janice and Larry Reese, Brenda Henrick, Katrina and Sandy from Fantastic Sam’s, Dr. Jule Hendrix, Dr. Cynthia Calisi, Adult 3 Sunday School Class and Deacons of West End Baptist Church, Employees of CGS, former youth groups at Northside Baptist Church, and Hospice Compassus.
